Kimihiro Watanuki

Utama

Male

Watanuki (a name meaning "April 1" in kanji) is known for having both a volatile and caring personality. Depending upon the person he talks to, his emotions tend to be overly exaggerated. He lives alone because his parents died when he was young, but harder than these conditions is the fact that his everyday life is plagued with strange spirits that only he can see, and they are drawn to him. Apparently this was inherited- it is noted that his blood smells good to spirits. One average day, while Watanuki is being chased by a legion of spirits, he comes across a strange house which the spirits are repelled by. He feels compelled to enter, and there meets Yuuko, who claims that it is a store which grants wishes in exchange for a price. Watanuki asks for the spirits to stop chasing him, and Yuuko agrees to granting it but only if Watanuki works as a helper in the shop until he accumulates enough time for her to make his wish come true. This is the beginning of Watanuki's part time job. As time goes by, Watanuki meets many different people who help him to develop and change his opinions on the world, and also to understand the world from Yuuko's perspective, which also helps him to mature.

Jun Fukuyama

Yuuko Ichihara

Utama

Female

Being one extremely experienced in her industry, Yuuko is not foolish enough to give away her real name like Watanuki. That aside, Yuuko has served as a major catalyst for Watanuki's transformation, acting somewhat as his mentor. She loves to drink and eat Watanuki's wonderful cooking and dragging Watanuki on crazy outings at the drop of a hat. Despite this immature and free-spirited attitude, Yuuko has been known to be sage-like and serious when the time calls for it. Yuuko seems to know the true hitsuzen that Watanuki will follow, and has often offered cryptic messages to warn him of impending danger or a folk tale that he should take a bit more seriously. She also seems to truly care about him, making sure he is safe at night, sending the Kudakitsune (pipe-fox) with him for extra protection, or calling Doumeki when he needs saving. Yuuko is very powerful when it comes to magic and knowledge and is highly respected within the spirit realm. However, she doesn't often appear to get directly involved in things beyond whatever contact she has with those making wishes. Sometimes, she sends Watanuki to do jobs for her, such as when she granted a wish from Himawari. Yuuko seems to take the role of someone playing chess when it comes to the big picture of things that are going on. In Horitsuba Gakuen, she is a ruthless principal, who always climbs into rooms through the window.

Sayaka Oohara

Shizuka Doumeki

Utama

Male

Shizuka Dômeki is Kimihiro Watanuki's classmate and considered a rival by Watanuki. He is part of the school's kyūdō club and often participates (and tops) school competitions. Also because of his cool and calm composure he is very popular with the girls. He has a cool, calm and often sarcastic demeanor. He barely speaks unless explaining folklore or asking Watanuki for impossible bento lunches (such as asking for food that is out of season or hard to find). He also has a deadpan sense of humor that is often dark and somewhat fatalistic. Much to the annoyance of Watanuki he seems to pop up everywhere, especially when Watanuki gets a chance to be with Himawari. He often replies in a one word phrase like "Hn" or "Oh". He is also very observant, and even though he does not show it he seems to be very protective of Watanuki, He lives in a shrine owned by his late grandfather, a priest in which during his childhood told him a lot of stories about folklore and shinto practices. However, despite his heritage, Dômeki has a nearly null ability of seeing ghosts or spirits, though he can still exorcise them. He does seem to be able to feel spiritual "pressure" and have a vague sense of their presence. Dômeki cannot enter Yuuko's Store.

Kazuya Nakai

Himawari Kunogi

Utama

Female

Watanuki's main love interest. He has been infatuated with Himawari ever since the beginning of the series and even some cryptic remarks from Yūko like "are you sure she's good luck?" haven't deterred him. Himawari is caring and kind towards Watanuki, but she has her own reasons in avoiding him becoming closer to her. For some reason she was born with the power to cause serious misfortune (although unintended) to those around her, an issue that even brought death to her grandmother and sometimes brought trouble to her friends.

Shizuka Itou

Zashiki-warashi

Pendukung

Female

A spirit girl (Vestal sprite) who has a crush on Watanuki. Zashiki-warashi are prone to mischievous thoughts, though this one is actually quite shy and sweet and very prone to crying (those who make her cry will be attacked by her guardians, a group of tengu-karasu). She lives on a mountain with pure spiritual energy and, as a result, is vulnerable to evil energy. She is based on a spirit from Japanese folklore, the zashiki-warashi, accounting for her childlike naivety and innocence.

Sumi Mutou

Mokona Modoki

Pendukung

A replica of a dimensional god Mokona made by Clow Reed and Yuuko. Soel was created specifically for Sakura, as a countermeasure for certain events foretold to happen in her journey by Clow Reed. It is "the thing" given to the Tsubasa crew as a means to travel between dimensions. Soel is more energetic and cheerful than her counterpart, Black Mokona, Larg. Soel likes to tease the Tsubasa team members, especially Kurogane. Soel's main functions include dimensional travel, universal translator and communicating with Black Mokona. It is later revealed that these functions are part of her "108 Secret Skills." Soel bears an earring on her right ear, while Larg has one on his left ear. In Horitsuba Gakuen, she is a twin with Mokona. (This is not the same Mokona which appears in CLAMP's other work, Rayearth.)

Mika Kikuchi

Maru

Pendukung

Maru is one of the two girls that led Watanuki into Yūko's shop. It isn't stated whether the girls were created by Yūko, Clow Reed, the both of them, or someone else entirely, but since they have no souls and cannot leave the shop, it can be assumed that they were created there.

Kazuko Kojima

Ame-warashi

Pendukung

The Ame-warashi is also known as a rain sprite or rain maker. She is a proud, high ranking spirit/sprite who has a very hostile attitude toward humans due to the fact that "humans have no care or regard whatsoever with living nature". She comes to Yūko to ask for the service of Watanuki to save someone at a park containing hydrangeas. In the anime, she is portrayed as a good, protective friend of the Zashiki-warashi. She also has the ability to detect differences in characters and likely special abilities, as implied by her ill feeling of Himawari and the "refreshing" or "pure" scent she detects emitting from Dōmeki. She appears again with the Zashiki-warashi to see Watanuki and remains hostile towards him, though she also makes a cryptic remark as to Watanuki's true nature. Her hair in the anime is red, however there are colored Clamp pieces that show her hair as blue. The concept of an Ame-warashi is based on a spirit from Japanese folklore.

Akiko Yajima

Mokona Modoki

Pendukung

Second copy of dimensional god Mokona made by Clow Reed and Yuuko. Black Mokona or "Larg" isn’t quite as enthusiastic and energetic as White Mokona, but nevertheless a teaser, which results in a reaction from Watanuki similar to Kurogane's. As Soel was made especially for Sakura, Larg was made for Watanuki. Little is known about Larg, except that it is able to see ghosts, something the White Mokona, Soel, cannot do, and that its main purpose is to stay in contact with Soel, so that Yuuko can know where the group is and assist them if necessary. Also, Black Mokona is used for teleporting things to the White Mokona and vice-versa. It is done by swallowing by one of them and spitting them out by other. Yuuko has also remarked that of the two Mokona, the red earring on the white one possesses the ability to enhance magical power while the blue earring on black one has the ability to seal magical power. Like Yuuko, Black Mokona loves to drink sake. The name Larg comes from the rune Laguz meaning water. Larg is officially "male". In Horitsuba Gakuen, he is a twin of girl Mokona.

Mika Kikuchi

Moro

Pendukung

Moro is one of the two girls that led Watanuki into Yūko's shop. It isn't stated whether the girls were created by Yūko, Clow Reed, the both of them, or someone else entirely, but since they have no souls and cannot leave the shop, it can be assumed that they were created there.

Hisayo Mochizuki

Chibi Kitsune

Pendukung

This cute little fox works with his dad at the mysterious oden stand. He's shy, but he'll stand up for his friends. Watanuki gave him one of Doumeki's broken arrows, the Arrow of Virtue. and in exchange he saved his life in a parade. In the anime, he collected special objects and played shiritori with Watanuki and Mokona. Appearently, the night stand and the foxes cannot be seen by regular people but since Watanuki can see spirits, he can see them too. Chibi also collects special and rare items that he keeps in his drawer. Source: xxxholic.wikia.com

Yumiko Kobayashi

Mayuko

Pendukung

A woman who appears out of nowhere and takes on a motherly role to Watanuki.

Sakiko Tamagawa

Rin

Pendukung

Rin appears in Yūko's shop complaining of stiffness in her pinky finger. Yūko informs Rin that this is due to a "bad habit" the woman has, though Rin adamantly denies any sort of bad habit. Her denial causes a stream of black smoke entwined with the finger to become visible to both Yūko and Watanuki, revealing that her bad habit is that she is a compulsive liar. Yūko provides Rin with a ring that would supposedly alleviate her discomfort, but Rin goes back into her life and continues lying, rendering the ring useless. She becomes discontent with the ring, removing it while crossing the street, and the black smoke caused from her lies engulfs her entire body, causing her to become stuck in the middle of the crosswalk directly in the path of an oncoming truck.
