Soushi Minashiro

Utama

Male · Umur 14 · Gol. darah A

Height: 173 cm Soushi Minashiro is one of the children on Tatsumiya Island who knows the truth-- the world has been under invasion by an alien race called the Festum for the past three decades and Japan was destroyed 28 years ago. He is the son of Kouzou Minashiro, the commander of the secret military fortress Alvis, which is hidden in the bowels of the peaceful-seeming Tatsumiya Island. From a very young age, Soushi was bred to become the next commander of Alvis, so he has had a very isolated childhood carrying the heavy secret of the war and being told day in and day out that he must live only to protect the island. Kouhei Kiyasu

Kazuki Makabe

Utama

Male · Umur 14 · Gol. darah O

Height: 169 cm Like most of the children on Tatsumiya Island, Kazuki had no idea the earth was under invasion and strives throughout the series to understand why the adults hid this from him, and especially, why his estranged childhood friend Soushi is so willing to do whatever it takes to defend their humble island. He turns out to be an amazing fighter when he's unceremoniously tossed into the middle of a war he didn't know was raging, but fighting is never a thing of central importance to him. He turns out to be surprisingly kind and sincere, even if he rarely lets other people inside the walls he built around himself. Naturally, to someone with such a gentle nature, having to fight for his life constantly is a bewildering experience that causes him to question who he is and what he believes in. Living with only his father, Fumihiko, he does all the cooking and shopping and thus is an excellent chef. His mother, Akane, was assimilated by Festum long ago. He also seems to be very bad at card games as he's too honest to be good at bluffing. (Source: AnimeNfo, edited)

Makoto Ishii

Maya Toomi

Utama

Female · Umur 14

Height: 163 cm Maya lives with her mother Chizuru and elder sister Yumiko, who are both doctors. They run a small hospital out of their house. Maya is very close friends with Shouko Hazama and seems to develop a crush on Kazuki over the course of the series. Maya is an amazing mix of compassion, genuine sweetness, and steel. She has a surprising inner strength as we see in how calmly she thinks under pressure, her willingness to defy authority when she feels it is in the wrong, and her selfless courage in defending her loved ones no matter the situation. She is also extremely observant and sees much more deeply into other people's feelings than they are often willing to show.

Marika Matsumoto

Fumihiko Makabe

Pendukung

Male · Umur 40

Fumihiko Makabe becomes the new commander of Alvis in the second episode, when the previous commander dies. For such a strong and thoughtful man, he is surprisingly quiet and kind-hearted. Like all of his generation, he hates the Festum and once wanted an all-out war with them-- but fatherhood has been very good for him. He raises Kazuki alone, as his wife Akane was killed long ago protecting him from the Festum. Although Akane was a higher ranking officer than him (he took her last name upon their marriage ^^), he is also a seasoned soldier who has shed blood--both Festum and human--and always keeps it a priority to prevent the children from having to do the same. Fumihiko and Kazuki live in a small house that doubles as a ceramics workshop where Fumihiko makes traditional, Japanese clay pots to sell for a living. He hates having to send his son out to fight but tries to keep a strong front to give Kazuki as much stability and reassurance as possible. He has a healthy respect for the intellect and abilities of Minashiro Soushi, despite his youth, and relies on him to help Kazuki along during this difficult time. (from AnimeNfo)

Masahiko Tanaka

Kouyou Kasugai

Pendukung

Male

Kouyou is a very gentle soul, taking in stray puppies and pining away after the sweet, bed-ridden beauty Shouko. He has had an unfortunate life--his adopted parents seem to care very little about him and actually rejoice when they hear he has been selected to pilot a Fafner. Although he dislikes fighting, after a certain, tragic event occurs, he is filled with a bitter determination to show Kazuki and Soushi (whom he believes have failed him) what it means to truly protect someone. Kouyou is the pilot of Mark V. He is the third pilot selected and, with time, appears to have the potential to be a very good pilot. He cares very deeply for Shouko (whom he realizes has eyes only for Kazuki) and has a puppy named Chocolat. (Source: AnimeNfo)

Despite her poor physical condition, she has aptitude for piloting Fafner. When she is selected to be a pilot, she feels she finally has the chance to prove herself to everyone, especially to Kazuki, whom she has a big crush on. Her desperate actions become a major impetus for everyone else's growth. She is the pilot of Mark VI (Sechs).

Youko Soumi

Michio Hino

Pendukung

Male · Umur 25

Michio was originally a resident of Tatsumiya Island, but about five years prior to the start of the series, he and his father Youji left in order to fight for the world's sake rather than just the island's. Since then, he has been an ace pilot of the Human Army and taken in and trained the young orphan Canon Memphis, whom he saved during the battle in Dublin, Ireland. When he finally returns to the island, he proves himself a good guy, turning against the Human Army when they try to destroy Tatsumiya. He has been in love with Toomi Yumiko, one of his classmates, for all these years, and has been enduring the gradual decaying of his chromosomes from piloting his Fafner so that his father could research his cells and find ways to extend the lives of all Fafner pilots. When he comes back to settle on Tatsumiya, he and Yumiko are finally able to find a bit of happiness together in the midst of their battle-rifed lives. Michio is the pilot of the Fafner Mega Therion (not a Nothung model like those used on Tatsumiya Island), but later pilots the Mark I. His nickname in the Human Army is "666" (pronounced "Triple Six"). His father is stationed at the New United Nations' Moldova Base and his mother remained on Tatsumiya Island but was killed along with Kuramae Karin in the first Festum attack.

Hideyuki Hori

Canon Memphis

Pendukung

Female · Umur 14 · Gol. darah AB

Height: 165cm Canon enters the series in episode 11 along with Michio. The two are the ace Fafner pilots of the New United Nations' Human Army. She is an excellent and seasoned warrior despite her youth, a result of the war-torn life she has led. She is originally from Dublin, Ireland, which was completely annihilated four years prior to the series. All her family slaughtered, she is taken in by Michio Hino, a Human Army soldier, who teaches her the ways of the soldier. Hardened by a lifetime of fighting, she now simply exists and follows orders, unable to act, decide, desire or do anything of her own will. When she arrives on Tatsumiya, she is at first offended and then confused by the peaceful world she encounters there. Over time, though, she begins to understand and accept peace and wants desperately to belong there. She is assigned to live with Youko Hazama, whom she slowly opens up to. She becomes friends with Sakura and the other pilots and seems to develop some deeper interest in Kazuki. Canon represents the hope that mankind, despite having lived in a non-stop war for the past 30 years, can remember and return to a life of peace. Canon pilots the Babylon Fafner (which is not a Nothung model like those on Tatsumiya), and later temporarily pilot the Mark Drei (III). (Source: animeNFO, edited)

Sanae Kobayashi

Kenji Kondou

Pendukung

Kenji is the clown of our group; he's what Sakura would call "a cowardly admirer of women," and that's not a bad description. Surprisingly, he's the Student Council President at the Tatsumiya Island Junior High School (because no on ran against him), but most people don't realize this (they all assume Soushi is). Kenji is very good friends with Sakura and Mamoru and the three are students at the local dojo, run by Sakura's father. Although he is very frank about how frightened he is to fight in the Fafner, he makes an amazing amount of growth over the course of the series--for Sakura's sake. He has always admired her as one of her goons/toadies, but after seeing her afraid in the midst of battle, he realizes that he needs to become stronger so that he can protect her. Kenji lives with his mother, Ayano, and the two share a very close, affectionate relationship (although Ayano often throws things at his head and calls him "baka musuko" (idiot son)). He is the pilot of Mark VIII. (AnimeNFo)

Pendukung

Female · Umur 14

Sakura is a natural born leader-- since childhood, she has led Kenji and Mamoru around from one adventure to the next (they refer to her as "anego," which is used by Mafia members to refer respectfully to a senior female member). She hero-worships her father, a very stern and powerful martial artist, and is devastated when he is killed in the first assault of the Festum. She has a high aptitude for piloting Fafners and is the first pilot selected after Kazuki (she pilots the Mark Drei (III). She is rather blood-thirsty in battle, desperately wanting revenge for her father's death, but is actually not as good a pilot as one would expect. She comes to accept herself (and Kenji) for who she is, but the toll of piloting a Fafner falls heavy on her. After her father Seiichirou's death in the first episode, Sakura lives alone with her mother Kiyomi in the Kaname family dojo. She starts to develop a friendship with Canon Memphis too, when she comes to live on the island, and seems to accept and return Kenji's love for her. (AnimeNfo)
