Akari Mizunashi

Utama

Female · Umur 15

Height: 155 cm A native of Man-Home, Akari is a happy and easy-going person, who we rarely see angry or upset, a quality which she shares with her supervisor. She is best described as a romantic and seems to find enjoyment in things or events that other people might think humdrum and mundane. Akari often says "Hohe" or "Hahi", which is her short version of "wow". While she is not quite as skilled in rowing as Alice, nor is as familiar with the history of the city as Aika, her carefree and laid-back manner often endears her to the many people she encounters. As such, she seems to make friends very easily and can hold a warm conversation even with complete strangers, a fact that causes her to be labeled as 'mysterious' by her closest friends Aika and Alice. She also accidentally learned how to row back on the gondola back when she was at Man-Home, which Aika states, "Akari is almost invincible when she rows backward" (from the anime and the manga). She is frequently writing letters about her adventures on Aqua to an unnamed person back on Man-home (revealed in the last chapter of the manga); in the anime, these letters are directed to Ai.

Alicia Florence

Utama

Female · Umur 19 · Gol. darah A

Status: Prima Height: 165 cm The only other undine with Aria Company, Alicia is one of the Three Water Fairies of Neo-Venezia, known by the title "Snow White". At the start of the series, she is the most popular undine in the city, noted especially for her graceful rowing style. She was promoted to Prima at 15, the youngest ever to do so. Like Akari, she is relaxed and easy-going, but she also likes to tease others, especially her childhood friend Akira. Her favorite phrase is "ara ara" and she frequently giggles, to Akira's annoyance. According to Grandma Akino, she is an excellent undine because of her ability to enjoy everything.

Sayaka Oohara

Aika Granzchesta

Utama

Female · Umur 16 · Gol. darah O

Birthplace: Aqua Height: 160 cm The first friend Akari ever made on Aqua, Aika is an undine for Himeya, the oldest and currently second-ranking water-guide company in Neo-Venezia. As the only daughter of its owners, she is also Himeya's heir, but does not enjoy the distinction that much, as she feels that she is fawned upon too much by the company's employees. Aika often speaks in an open and blunt manner, and goes out of her way to cut off Akari's many idealistic comments with a preemptive "Embarrassing remarks are not allowed!" (Hazukashii serifu kinshi!). Despite their contrasting personalities, she gets along quite well with Akari, and later with Alice. She is very proud of her undine abilities, and tends to be very competitive in this aspect. She also worships Alicia, and finds any excuse to go over to Aria company and spend time with her. Aika once said that if it was not for the obligation to her family, she would join Aria company. Aika has feelings for Al.

Akira Ferrari

Utama

Female · Umur 20 · Gol. darah O

Status: Prima Place of Birth: Aqua Height: 168 cm Akira is one of Neo Venezia's three Water Fairies, and is Aika's supervisor with the Himeya company. She is nicknamed the Demon Instructor for her strict training regimen as well as her loud and brusque personality. She is particularly harsh with Aika, in spite of the fact that the girl is her employers' heir, though she does so since she honestly thinks that there is potential in her. As such, she is the only Himeya employee who does not fawn on Aika, though even the latter admits that it is only due to Akira's strictness (and honesty) that she has been able to become a good undine. As a prima undine, she is known as "Crimson Rose" (真紅の薔薇). Akira is famous for her conversational skills as well as her intimate knowledge of the sights to be seen in Neo Venezia. She has a lot of admirers among her customers, though surprisingly enough these are more female than male (which seems to bother her a little, as she considers herself very feminine). Akira and Alicia's relationship mirrors Akari and Aika's, though Alicia is far more teasing when Akira is around. This isn't that much of a surprise, as Akira and Alicia are childhood friends. However, Akira is still galled that Alicia became a Prima earlier than her, despite the fact that Alicia initially became an undine to tag along with her.

Junko Minagawa

Alice Carroll

Utama

Female · Umur 14 · Gol. darah B

Height: 145 cm A girl introduced in volume 3, Alice is a trainee for Orange Planet, a company who currently holds the first place in the water guide business. She first appears as a very standoffish, snotty young girl; however, exposure to Akari's mood begins to lighten her up as the series progresses. This does not stop her from telling the other girls to be quiet when they argue, however. She is just a trainee when Akari and Aika are apprentices, but is already showing a talent for rowing that might surpass both of them (in fact, this is the reason why she was scouted by Orange Planet despite her age). Despite this (and the fact that Akari and Aika are from rival businesses), she often joins the two in joint practice sessions, and she sincerely enjoys their company. Alice speaks in a very deadpan manner, and tends to use the word dekkai (でっかい - meaning "huge") often in the course of speaking. Aika also commonly addresses her as "Kohai-chan" (後輩ちゃん - or "junior" said in a friendly manner).

Ryou Hirohashi

Athena Glory

Utama

Female · Umur 21 · Gol. darah AB

Status: Prima Birth Place: Aqua Height: 170 cm The third "Water Fairy", who works for Orange Planet and acts as Alice's mentor. She tends to be a total airhead who does not really pay attention to anything (in the anime, she once rowed under a bridge and forgot to duck), but genuinely cares about Alice. She was a trainee undine with Alicia and Akira, and often joined them in joint practice sessions much like Akari, Aika, and Alice do now. Athena has a beautiful singing voice, which she uses to entertain her customers and also to help Alice when she is in some kind of trouble. Athena has a strange laugh, it usually comes out sounding as though she is angry. She came to know Alicia and Akira when they were still trainee undine and practised together back then. She tends to be quiet most of the time but happy to join in having fun. Her appellation as a prima undine is "Seiren" (denoted as "Heavenly Voice").

Tomoko Kawakami

Aria Pokoteng

Utama

Male

Amongst the undine companies, it's a tradition to keep a blue-eyed cat (breed is not a problem here) as mascot for good luck. President Aria is the Aria Company's mascot, a male Aqua breed feline (common trait are bigger than Earth breed and human-level intelligence). He is smart enough to understand human speech. President Aria was a stray cat before being taken in by Grandma twenty years ago and has been the company's mascot ever since. He really loves to eat - coupled with Alicia and Akari doting on him - making him really chubby. He has a crush on President Hime and is mortally afraid of President Maa and her tendency to latch her jaw on to his sizable stomach.

Chinami Nishimura

Maa

Pendukung

Female

Maa is one of the four major cats in the Aria storyline was adopted as a stray by Alice in the first season. She named her "Maa-kun" because all the cat said was "Maa". Because of Maa's incredibly small blue pupils, she was made Orange Planet's new president, thus everyone now refers to her as President Maa (Maa-shachou). Maa is the smallest of the company cats. She is mostly white with patches of black and brown fur. She has a great affinity for biting President Aria's belly and does so whenever she can much to President Aria's dismay.

Akeno Watanabe

Akatsuki Izumo

Pendukung

Male · Umur 18

Akari's first customer as a Single. He is a tall, impatient young man who calls Akari "Pigtails" (momiko) to tease her. He works as an apprentice Salamander, someone who helps maintain Aqua's climate in the floating buildings that tethered overhead. Although drawn like a typical bishonen, his constant scowl combined with a loose-fitting robe usually cover up his more "attractive" features, which he rarely displays. Akatsuki has an older brother who takes great pleasure giving him a hard time. He's also Woody's childhood friend, and also knows Al the gnome, and is occasionally seen in the company of Woody and sometimes Al. (The latter much to Aika's consternation, since she doesn't like Akatsuki much, but loves Al.) Akatsuki has a rather heavy crush on Alicia, often calling the Aria company phone just to hear her away voice message. He's not adverse to spending time with Akari either if the mood strikes him, or demand of her to help him with various things, like carrying the many roses he bought for the Boccolo festival.

Hirofumi Nojima

Akino Ametsuchi

Pendukung

Female

A famous and longest-serving Prima undine, who started Aria company with Aria Pokoteng after realizing she was missing too much of life as Himeya's top ace. She was Prima undine for 30 years and mentor to Alicia, her last disciple, to whom she left the company on her retirement. She is highly respected by young undines, especially Alice. She's currently living in the countryside, doing some farming on the side, and will sometimes drop by Aria company with some of the byproducts from her fields. Before she took on Alicia as a student, Akino had another undine named Anna as a student. However, Anna eventually fell in love with one of her customers, married him and moved to Burano Island.

Yoshiko Matsuo

Hime Granzchesta

Pendukung

Female

President of Himeya Company, a small, delicate, black female cat from Manhome. She is the target of President Aria's obvious crush (and sometimes lack of manners), wherein she makes it a point to ignore him for the most part.

Kaori Mizuhashi

Ai Aino

Pendukung

Female

A girl from Man-home. Initially, Ai came to Aqua to explore in a rather negative attitude because her elder sister often boasted to her how good Aqua is, only to find that it was boring. However, meeting & befriending Akari & friends changed Ai's mindset. Ai became the recipient of Akari's letters, and through Akari's mails, Ai started to love Aqua more than ever. Whenever time permits, Ai would pay a visit to Akari in Aqua.

Woody is a Sylph. His job is to deliver packages and other goods to people in Neo-Venezia, or delivering people's treasured feelings as he called it. He loves 'swimming' through the sky, and prefers his nickname because it's less formal than his actual name. In the manga, Woody has a somewhat poor sense of direction, and is mostly unable to work without using a map. He's a childhood friend of Akatsuki, the two often spending time playing outside, occasionally being looked after by Al.

Yuuji Ueda

Albert Pitt

Pendukung

Male · Umur 19

Al is an apprentice gnome (a person that maintains the gravity levels if Aqua to match that of Man-Home). Despite his youthful looks and short stature, he is actually nineteen, though he has the tendency to crack "old guy jokes", which irritates Aika to no end whenever she's present. He does wear glasses, although it's not known whether he has very bad eyesight or not. He has excellent nightvision, though, like all gnomes, mostly due to their life spent underground. In the manga, he's prone to fainting spells at first, assumedly because gnomes are unaccustomed to the heat normally associated with summer days in Neo-Venezia. He nevertheless lives on Ukijima, which may or may not account for him often taking care of Akatsuki and Woody when they were children. It is known that Aika has a crush on him, as she always turns shy around him.

Akeno Watanabe

Arata Izumo

Pendukung

Akatsuki's older brother, who works in the trading business and is known to travel back and forth between Aqua and Man-Home. He considers himself to be among the elite, and enjoys antagonizing his brother from time to time when they meet. In the anime, it is implied that he also lends his brother money from time to time. At one point, he rents Akari's gondola for the sake of transporting some (Neo) Venezian glass, and after the job is completed, he compliments her for a job well done. "You accepted the job and saw it through. That's what it takes to be a professional".

Hisao Egawa

Namihei Anno

Pendukung

Male · Umur 55

He is one of the postmen working on planet Aqua. He was the first person Akari Mizunashi met when she came to the planet, and also the one who brought her then sleeping self over to Aria company when he learned she would start working there.

Akemi Okamura

Ami

Pendukung

A spirit of a cat in form of a girl. Akari and President Aria meets her in episode 4 of Aria the Animation ("That undeliverable letter") where she tasks Akari with delivering a letter to an address she couldn't locate on her computer. She later shows up in various flashback presentations, like the one in episode 13 of Aria the Animation. Ami is an anime-only character, and does not show up in the manga.

Masayo Kurata

Amelie

Pendukung

A tourist from Man-Home/Earth who rented Akira's gondola in episode 7 of Aria the Animation. ("Doing that Wonderful Job") She is traveling with her husband, whom she also met on Man-Home. Amelie came to Aqua with the specific intent of traveling on Akira's gondola, but she's also a huge fan of anything cute, so the addition of the three girls in training was a huge bonus for her, as was the President cats. She later joins the three girls' practice (with some unintended help from her husband), only to be as surprised by Akira's "training mode" as he was.

Megumi Toyoguchi

Arashi

Pendukung

Amelie's husband. While he doesn't seem to mind traveling alongside his wife, he's seemingly more interested in reading about the various sights and happenings around Neo-Venezia. He has a slight temper, and at first heavily underestimated the work it took to become a Prima. This, coupled with his vocal displeasure about spending the full day on a gondola is what earned them the opportunity to witness the girls' training later on.

Kousuke Toriumi

Akiko Hoshino

Pendukung

A person from the past who appears when Akari is visiting a bridge. Acts the same as Akari and may be regarded as an alternate of her. It's hinted in the anime that she's a teacher of sorts. Akiko is an anime-only character, and does not show up in the manga.
