Karakter & Staf

Karin Maaka

Utama

Female

Height: 152 cm The protagonist of the show. Karin is a "blood-producing" vampire (増血鬼, zōketsuki — literally "haematopoietic demon"); rather than needing to acquire blood from humans, her body produces too much blood instead (polycythemia). To make matters worse, her blood levels increase dramatically whenever she senses unhappiness in those around her, or if she gets embarrassed about something. This results in frequent nosebleeds, followed by anemic symptoms such as light-headedness, which causes frequent visits to the school nurses office so she can rest. She does not suck blood from her "victims"; rather, she injects her surplus into them instead. This has the effect of making her victims very lively and positive.

Sayuri Yahagi

Kenta Usui

Utama

Male

Height: 180cm Kenta Usui is a student that transferred to Karin's high school. He is also her workmate. Kenta is the only human that knows of Karin's vampiric nature. He learned what she was after witnessing her biting three victims, one of which was his own mother. He has promised to keep this knowledge a secret. As his unhappiness causes Karin's blood to rapidly increase, she has taken it upon herself to cheer him up by making him a bento every day. He could not afford to buy his own lunch and is therefore grateful to her.

Katsuyuki Konishi

Winner Sinclair

Pendukung

A vampire hunter descended from a long line of hunters, Winner is very melodramatic, and his hunting garb is flamboyant: a black, flowing Neo-style long overcoat, with a white chest and a gold "W" plastered across the front, and a huge wide-brimmed hat with a feather sticking out of it. His blond good looks make him extremely popular with the girls at the school and his "cool" appearance is also commented on by passing strangers. He transfers to Karin's high school and falls in love with her at first sight, constantly making romantic overtures toward her. Despite being a vampire hunter, he does not know about Karin's true nature, as he is blinded by love and possibly also because he is not very bright. As a child, he met a girl with whom he shared his first kiss. However, the girl he "kissed" was (unknown to him at the time) actually a younger Karin, who bit him and injected her blood into him. There is one massive stumbling block to Winner's progress as a vampire hunter, however: he has hemophobia (aka, a fear of blood), which goes as far as feeling sick when seeing spilt red paint. Note: Winner is an anime-only character and does not appear in the manga verison. (Source: Wikipedia)

Kouki Miyata

Anju Maaka

Pendukung

Female

Anju is Karin's younger sister and she absolutely loves her, close to the point of possession. She has not quite awakened as a vampire though has amazing control over bats and because of that, she is obviously still somewhat sensitive to the sun, attending school on overcast days. Anju is very reserved, speaking in a quiet manner and wears a Gothic Lolita attire. Boogie-kun is her companion, whom she carries around and is her favorite of her dolls, something she enjoys collecting. She will do anything for Karin. In the anime, Anju's blood preference is jealousy when she awakens. In the manga, it's loneliness.

Yuka Inokuchi

Ren Maaka

Pendukung

Male

Ren Maaka is the oldest of the Maaka children, has no qualms about sucking blood, and believes vampires to be superior to humans. However, he prefers female victims, seducing female victims and often spending days in their company before he's done with them, and refuses to suck on male blood. Ren sees the act of biting as a metaphor for sexual intercourse, and often commits both acts simultaneously. Ren often appears annoyed at Karin for her seeming lack of vampiric abilities and her friendliness towards humans. While he will listen to his father Henry, Anju is often the one who will calm him when he's annoyed or subtly prod him into acting in certain ways. He greatly fears Elda, whose overly affectionate manner when he was a child causes him to flee at the mere sight or mention of her.

Junichi Suwabe

Henry Marker

Pendukung

Karin Maaka's father, Henry Marker is a vampire who is portrayed as surprisingly human; he seems to act in a way one might call 'silly.' Despite Karin's teenage status at age sixteen, Henry still views Karin as extremely young. Despite Karin's anomalies and flaws, he still loves her dearly: this is exemplified when Karin first suffered a nosebleed at a human school, Henry braved the sunlight to rescue Karin from the hospital workers, who would have realized she was a vampire upon examination, and is severely burned in the process. Henry suffers normal paternal jealousy when the possibility of love between Karin and Kenta Usui arises. Henry is often pushed about by his wife Calera Marker, but has a fierce side which he rarely allows the world to see. Like most other vampires, Henry has a bat as a familiar, who remains unnamed, but has glowing red eyes. (Source: Wikipedia)

Dai Matsumoto

Calera Marker

Pendukung

The Maaka family matriarch. She is quite domineering and usually keeps her husband under her thumb. Her preference is the blood of liars, which she drinks like a fine wine. Calera's only known enemy in the anime is Elda Marker, as discovered in Episode 15. (Source: Wikipedia)

Emi Shinohara

Maki Tokitou

Pendukung

Karin's best friend at school, she often wears her long hair in a ponytail. She is a cheerful girl who supports Karin through all her troubles, but it doesn't stop her from ribbing Karin mercilessly about Kenta. Maki does not know Karin is a vampire. She was the only girl who didn't swoon over Winner when he first arrived at school, but she is slowly starting to fall for him, despite the fact that he's always trying to romance Karin. Winner always refers to Maki as "Karin's friend", much to Maki's annoyance. (Source: Wikipedia)

Mikako Takahashi

Elda Marker

Pendukung

Karin's grandmother. Karin bears a remarkable resemblance to her; the only difference any of the characters seem to notice is Elda's smaller breasts and her much longer pink hair and red eyes. Ren is scared stiff of her; he first met her when he was four, before Karin and Anju were born, and she almost killed him with affection. Elda first appears when she breaks free from her sealed coffin in the Maaka family mansion. Elda's blood preference is love. Elda has a crazy personality and has taken a great interest into Karin. Yuri Shiratori

Boogie-kun

Pendukung

Anju's sarcastic talking doll. He often tells Karin how useless she is, which usually leads to Anju punishing him. The other dolls in Anju's room also talk and have their own personalities, but "Boogie-kun" is her favorite. Boogie-Kun is actually a murderers' spirit trapped in a doll who becomes upset when he is away from Anju too long. In volume 3 of the manga one of Anju's classmates takes Boogie-kun, with grievous consequences until Anju comes to take Boogie-kun back. (Source: Wikipedia)
