Inuyasha

Utama

Birthday: Unconfirmed Birthplace: Western Japan, equal to Toyama Height: 167 cm Weapons: claws, sword-Tessaiga Attacks: Claws-Sankountessou, Hijinkessou. Tessaiga- Kaze no Kizu, Bakuryuuha, Kongousoha, and Meido Zangetsuha. Family: Izayoi (mom), InuTaisho (dad), and Sesshoumaru (half-brother). The male protagonist, a hybrid of a youkai-dog and a human, a half-demon ("han'yo" in Japanese). He wields the Tessaiga (pronounced "Tetsaiga" in the American dub), a supernatural sword made from one of his deceased father's fangs. This sword, when properly wielded, can destroy one hundred demons with a single swing, and has further powers which are revealed as the story progresses. It is also a source of which hatred exists between Inuyasha and his brother Sesshomaru, a full youkai dog demon, being that Inuyasha can wield the Tessaiga and Sesshomaru can not. Inuyasha has a tendency for massive regeneration and can recover from injuries which would be fatal for any average human. This ability is likely derived from his youkai powers (Example: Episode 5, when Kagome brings medicine from her time). On the night of the new moon each month, Inuyasha will change into a normal human with black hair, brown eyes, and loses his yokai power during this time. Prior to meeting his current companions, he would conceal himself during this time. Inuyasha loves Kikyo, and still does, but things get complicated when he starts to develop feelings of love for Kagome. He has mastered different abilities for his sword including the red tessaiga that can destroy barriers and also learning the backlash wave which hurls an opponents demonic energy right back at it.

Kappei Yamaguchi

Kagome Higurashi

Utama

Female · Umur 15

Height: 157.5 cm (5'1") The female protagonist and a third year middle school student. In the tradition of many Rumiko Takahashi heroines (Lum, Akane Tendo, Kyoko Otonashi), Kagome can be extremely sweet, but can also become very dangerous when provoked. InuYasha wears a special bead necklace (known as the Beads of Subjugation) which only responds to Kagome's command: when she yells "Sit!" ("Osuwari!") (Often "Sit, boy!" in the dub) InuYasha is thrown to the ground. The necklace was placed upon him due to his dangerous attitude when he was unsealed. As the series continues, Kagome uses the necklace less and less. It is scarcely used by this point in time, and is purely comedic relief when it is. As fate would have it, Kagome also develops feelings of strong love for InuYasha. This relationship proves to be a driving point of the series. In the series, Kagome becomes a powerful miko (not really a miko).

Satsuki Yukino

Naraku

Utama

The main antagonist, Naraku (literally means "underworld", or "hell") is responsible for nearly every character’s suffering throughout the series. He is a han'yō that originated from a bandit named Onigumo ("Demon Spider"). Naraku's main goal is to collect all of the shards of the Shikon no Tama in order to become a full Youkai. His platonic love for Kikyo is what drove him to kill Kikyo and seal Inuyasha on the tree and basic reason to became a demon.

Toshiyuki Morikawa

Kaguya

Utama

Kaguya is the main antagonist in the second Inuyasha movie, 'Castle Beyond the Looking Glass.' Kaguya is a so-called fallen angel (it is never specified if she is truly an angel, or a mere demon who thinks she is) who desires the Celestial Robe, which can make her immortal. However, long ago Kaguya was sealed away in a mirror that seems similar to Kanna's. Following orders from the recently deceased Naraku, Kagura, and Kanna go on a quest to collect 5 magical items, one of which is a scrap of InuYasha's robe. It is also during the collection of the 5th item that Kagome is captured. Upon collecting the items, 5 beams of light create a pentagram over Japan, freeing Kaguya. InuYasha races to Kaguya's castle with Shippo, Sango, Kohaku and Miroku lagging behind. Kaguya uses the mirror she was previously sealed in to seal InuYasha's human side, unleashing his full demon side. Kagome, in a desperate attempt to stop the transformation, Kagome kisses him, cracking Kaguya's mirror and breaking the spell. At this point, Sango and the others arrive to witness the couple's first kiss. Kanna then uses her own mirror and steals some of Kaguya's life force. At this point, a spider mark appears on Kohaku's back, and Naraku emerges, apparently not as dead as InuYasha and company would have hoped. Kohaku once again reverts back to Naraku's control, and Miroku regains his Wind Tunnel. The castle starts to collapse, and InuYasha and the gang flee. Kaguya chases them as a black cloud, determined to kill them. However, Miroku uses his Wind Tunnel to absorb Kaguya. Everyone, including Naraku, escapes the castle unharmed. Kaguya is supposedly the girl Kaguya-hime, a girl from a commonly known Japanese legend known as the Legend of the Bamboo Cutter. Again, it is not truly specified if Kaguya is actually Kaguya-hime, or merely believes herself to be. In the legend, five princes ask for Kaguya-hime's hand in marriage. Not planning to marry any of them, Kaguya-hime sends each of them on a quest to retrieve five treasures- the basin of Buddha, a silver and gold alzalea, the Chinese Fire mouse (or fire rat, as in InuYasha's robe), a colored dragon jewel, and the seashore treasure of the swallows. All the princes fail their task, and thus fail to win Kaguya-hime's favor. In the movie, these treasures are the key to releasing Kaguya from her mirror. They also represent wood, earth, fire, metal and water. In the movie, Kaguya desires the Celestial robe to gain the power of a celestial being in order to return to the moon. In the actual legend, Kaguya-hime returns to the moon after a set amount of time, claiming her time on earth was merely punishment for an unknown crime. Sango

Pendukung

Female · Umur 16

Height: 165 cm Sango is a youkai slayer who hails from a village of professional yōkai slayers. The only member of Inuyasha's group to have no supernatural powers, Sango instead wields the Hiraikotsu, a massive boomerang made of yōkai bones, in addition to a broad repertoire of tools and tricks for battling yōkai. Sango is also a victim of Naraku's evil schemes; her family was killed and her entire village destroyed by Naraku's yōkai so that Naraku could then blame Inuyasha and manipulate Sango into trying to kill him. When his plot failed, Naraku used a shard of the Shikon Jewel to revive and control her little brother Kohaku, forcing him to fight Inuyasha and company, and using him as a means by which to manipulate Sango. She seeks vengeance against Naraku, but her primary goal is to rescue Kohaku from Naraku's influence and somehow save his life, although currently it's uncertain if she will be able to do so as Kohaku's life is tied to the jewel shard. She has obvious feelings towards Miroku, although she is offended by his constant groping and lechery.

Houko Kuwashima

Miroku

Pendukung

Male · Umur 18

A Buddhist 'houshi,' or low-ranking, itinerant monk, Miroku traveled the countryside performing services such as exorcisms and youkai exterminations to earn his living. He suffers from a hereditary curse originally inflicted upon his grandfather Miyatsu (also a Buddhist monk) by Naraku, who exploited Miyatsu's weakness for attractive women by taking the shape of one, and reflected one of Miyatsu's ofuda back to pierce the palm of his right hand (it appears to be his left hand in the English language manga where right and left are reversed). The hole in his hand became a kazaana (air void or "wind tunnel") which sucks in anything not nailed down, regardless of mass. Miroku uses the kazaana as a powerful weapon against youkai, but as he grows older, the kazaana grows inevitably larger, and if the curse is not broken by Naraku's death, it will grow too large to control and consume Miroku himself - the same fate his grandfather and his father have already met. Probably as a result of this, Miroku takes a hedonistic approach to life which is uncharacteristic of a proper monk; he is a talented con artist who does not hesitate to invent fictitious supernatural menaces which he can then offer to combat in return for food and shelter, and like his grandfather he has a distinct weakness for pretty women. He makes a point of asking every attractive woman he meets if she will bear his child, claiming that he wants to be sure of an heir to continue his pursuit of Naraku if he dies, and his hands have a seemingly uncontrollable habit of wandering - something which often gets him soundly thumped by Sango, the favorite subject of his groping. However, in spite of his less-than-saintly behavior, Miroku proves to have a core of deep spirituality and, as a result, impressive spiritual powers.

Kouji Tsujitani

Shippo

Pendukung

Male

An orphaned young youkai-fox (kitsune) whose father was killed by the Thunder Brothers, Hiten and Manten. He wanted to avenge his father so he helped Kagome and Inuyasha. He was the first character in the story to join InuYasha and Kagome in their travels as a group. Shippo can shape shift, but his forms are temporary, often incomplete and ineffective, and he is usually given away by his telltale tail. His other noteworthy abilities are turning into a wooden horse that can fly, leaving a trail of yelping mushrooms and acorns, illusionary tricks with toys like his giant spinning top attack, using his race's notable fox fire magic (which rarely seems to work properly), and making things like leaves or himself multiply. He tends to be naively observant and often makes pointed and cheeky comments directed towards InuYasha, earning him a retaliatory bonk on the head for his unnecessary "advice". InuYasha and Kagome serve as older sibling figures to Shippo. Shippo and Kirara (when she is in her kitten form) are the smallest members of InuYasha's group, with Shippo being the youngest. Because he so small and light, whenever the group is traveling anywhere Shippo is almost always seen riding on someone's shoulder, on Kirara's back, in Kagome's arms, or in the basket on Kagome's bike; he is rarely seen walking or running.

Kumiko Watanabe

Kikyou

Pendukung

Female · Umur 17-18

Height: 169 cm A shrine maiden who loved InuYasha and was killed by Naraku (disguised as Inuyasha) who made the two fight fifty years prior (in InuYasha's time) to the story's start. She is brought back to life by the ogress Urasue. Although she looks alive, her body is still "dead," and she must ingest the souls of the dead to move.

Noriko Hidaka

Myoga

Pendukung

Male

A yokai-flea who is InuYasha's source of information. He usually runs away from dangerous situations. He was initially charged with protecting the remains/gravesite of InuYasha's father which held the Tessaiga. The Grave was hidden inside the black pearl in InuYasha's right eye and was opened during his first run-in with his elder brother, Sesshoumaru. Myoga also enjoys drinking yokai blood, and actually saves InuYasha's life at one point by drinking the poison out of his blood. Because of that, he often gets slapped by InuYasha (and sometimes by Kagome too), but never dies from it since he's immortal.

Kenichi Ogata

Hachiemon

Pendukung

Male

A congenial shape-shifting youkai who has befriended Miroku. Hachi's natural appearance is a youkai-tanuki (Raccoon-Dog). Hachi is short for Hachiemon. Once took the form of Miroku to sell fake seals and get away with the ladies. But when Miroku catches him, he is being assaulted by a spirit haunting a cave. Hachi sometimes acts as the transportation for InuYasha's group, and would risk his life to take them into the heart of enemy territory or ship them out of danger when it's necessary.

Toshihiko Nakajima

Kohaku

Pendukung

Sango's younger brother who was once under the control of Naraku. When Naraku disguised himself as Kagewaki Hitomi, the son of a lord, he used Lord Hitomi's father to call upon Sango and the demon slayers to slay a false demon. Kohaku was made to turn against his companions, killing his father and all the demon slayers, Sango surviving only by sheer luck. Kohaku was killed that night also by the castle guards, only to be later resurrected by Naraku as an amnesiac puppet. After several encounters with Sango and her friends, he began to recover his painful memories and sought to secretly find a way to destroy Naraku while still maintaining the illusion of being a puppet and later forming an alliance with Kagura. For a while Kohaku accompanied Kikyou with the intention of assisting her in carrying out Midoriko's will. Around the time of Kikyou's death, however, he was saved from Byakuya by Sesshomaru, and currently travels with Sesshomaru, Jaken, and Rin. ("Kohaku" means "amber.")

Akiko Yajima

Kanna

Pendukung

Kanna is the first detachment of Naraku. She appears to be a ten-year-old girl with white hair and clothing. As a "concealed incarnation" of Naraku, Kanna has no scent and no demonic aura, making her undetectable to InuYasha's senses and immune to demonic aura-related effects such as the Hakurei-zan barrier. Kanna is the only incarnation that Naraku trusts with important information about his actions, allowing her to give orders in his place. Kanna carries a demonic mirror that can steal the souls of those reflected in it. Once a soul is trapped by her mirror, Kanna can control that person's body to carry out her bidding. However, the mirror can be overwhelmed by an especially powerful soul such as Kagome's, forcing Kanna to release all of the trapped souls before the glass shatters. The mirror can also create a glass demon to copy the abilities of whatever it reflects, though Kanna herself suffers damage when the glass demon is wounded.

Yukana

Kagura

Pendukung

Female

Kagura (lit. Music of the gods) is a wind sorceress created from Naraku's own body. Despite this, she has her own mind and is willing to fight desperately for freedom. Her first appearance involves Kagura's use of the "Shikabane Mai," or "Dance of the Dead," to lure out Koga's companions and slaughter them. Following this, she splattered Inuyasha in the blood, causing Koga to arrive to "avenge his companions." Unbeknownst to Koga, he has a false Shikon no Tama shard rather than the real one-and upon severly injuring Inuyasha, he is immobilized by Kagura's fake. Assured that she has won the battle, Kagura steps forward to take the real shikon shards as well as Koga's life. This is interrupted by Inuyasha, who proceeds to fight Kagura and is on the verge of being killed when he is finally able to interrupt Kagura's winds to unleash a Kaze no Kizu. Surprised, Kagura flees, briefly showing a spider-shaped burn scar on her back similar to Naraku's. She realizes that Naraku has been using her and proceeds to attack him, being stopped when he squeezes her heart and tells her that he holds her life in his hands. Since then, Kagura has worked to kill him, often using others.

Izumi Oogami

Kirara

Pendukung

Female

Kirara is the nekomata companion of Sango, the youkai exterminator that hails from a mountain village of other exterminators. Kirara usually appears as a tiny and cute feline no larger than a kitten with cream-colored fur, black ears, various black markings, large red eyes, and two tails, but her true form is a large saber toothed tiger-like youkai.

TARAKO

Hojo

Pendukung

Hojo is a boy at Kagome's school, and forms a giant crush for Kagome. He completely believes she's sick all the time and goes out of his way to bring her things to make her feel better. After Inuyasha forced Kagome back to her own time Kagome had an actual date with Hojo. But she was so worried about Inuyasha's wounds that she ran out of the restaurant in the middle of everything to try and return to the past. She often tries to convince herself that she really loves Hojo, but she always seems to take Inuyasha over Hojo if she has the choice. On a side note, Hojo's ancestor, Hojo Akitoki, shows up back in the past, and he is also in love with Kagome. He appears first in the second movie, Castle Beyond the Looking Glass, and then later in Episode 137: The Ancestor's Name Is Kagome. Hojo Akitoki looks a lot like the present day Hojo, except with a different hair-style and his hair and eye color are a lighter brown. On March 14, 2006, on Inuyasha, they mentioned a sword of Kaijimbo before Tokijin was made. This sword gave bad luck to the Hojo family. The character had only half of the sword because the Naginaga (the swords name) was cut by the handle making two. Hojo Akitoki has the Kene blade. (Source: AbsoluteAnime)

Souta Higurashi

Pendukung

Souta is the little brother of Kagome Higurashi. He is a nice kid who cares a lot about his sister. Souta also thinks Inuyasha is cool.

Akiko Nakagawa

Eri

Pendukung

The trio are Kagome Higurashi's present day school friends who seem to be quite nosy when it comes to her personal life. They are always nudging Kagome to make advances on Hojo, a popular school boy who obviously admires her. And when they first hear about InuYasha, they constantly encourage her to drop him due to her seemly bizarre descriptions of him; However, in later episodes Kagome's three classmates begin to like "Mr. Possessive." In episode 160 entitled "The Lucky But Two-Timing Scoundrel!" the girls finally meet InuYasha and find his exotic appearance intriguing, officially approving of him which makes Kagome considerably happy. Eri is the one with the shoulder length black hair who is all about Kagome's relationship health. She never fails to bring up Kagome's potential boyfriends (Inuyasha and Hojo) and isn't afraid to give her full opinion of them. In the episodes that are shown Eri is seen tapping her foot or fingernails and some fans have said that this is a habit of her being wary of someone (usually Kagome) [source: http://inuyasha.wikia.com/wiki/Ayumi,Eri,Yuka]

Yuki Masuda

Yuka

Pendukung

In episode 160 entitled "The Lucky But Two-Timing Scoundrel!" the girls finally meet InuYasha and find his exotic appearance intriguing, officially approving of him which makes Kagome considerably happy. Yuka, the last of the two, is the only one with significantly short hair and just like Eri, she is very outspoken and only wants the best for her dear friend Kagome. She seems to be the most outspoken and has sharp witty comments (such as calling Inuyasha a bad boy and two-timing scoundrel) [source: http://inuyasha.wikia.com/wiki/Ayumi,Eri,Yuka]

Ayumi

Pendukung

The trio are Kagome Higurashi's present day school friends who seem to be quite nosy when it comes to her personal life. In episode 160 entitled "The Lucky But Two-Timing Scoundrel!" the girls finally meet InuYasha and find his exotic appearance intriguing, officially approving of him which makes Kagome considerably happy. Ayumi is the most naive and gentle of the group of friends. Unlike Eri and Yuka, who feel that Kagome's 'delinquent boyfriend' is bad news and are thus constantly encouranging Hojo on his romantic, albeit platonic, pursuits of said time-traveling schoolgirl, Ayumi is almost always shown as supportive of the couple. Some of this is, of course, due to her innocent demenor and optimism. However, she does believe that Kagome truly is in love, and that because of this any problems the couple might stumble upon may be overcome. She is shown to have an interest in song, acting as the maestro to her school's choir performance during the cultural festival. [source: http://inuyasha.wikia.com/wiki/Ayumi,Eri,Yuka]

Nami Okamoto

Mama

Pendukung

Female

Mama Higurashi is the understanding mother of Souta and Kagome Higurashi. There's no information on what her actual name is as no one ever mentions her name. Her kids call her Mama, so she is known as Mama Higurashi. If there's been little information available about Mama Higurashi, there's been even less made known about her husband. The only information ever offered about her husband is that he proposed to her under the The Go-Shin-Boku. Though in the manga it mentions that he died in a car accident. She's full of unending support when it comes to her kids--especially Kagome. She's the one that cooks things to pack for Kagome when she takes her trips into the past. She even gave Kagome a bike to help get around when she is in the feudal era.
