Kino

Utama

Umur 15

Kino is the main character of Kino's Journey. They are a composed, stoic, and precocious teenager who travels with their motorrad, Hermes, in search of a country with specific desired characteristics. Their gender is ambiguous. Kino was born in the Land of Adults with the name of a flower. They dislike it as it resembles that of an insult, which resulted in them being teased. Their original name is never explicitly stated. Their father describes the flower that their named for as a bright red prairie flower that, while short lived, blooms in abundance in the fields just beyond the borders of their home country during their birthday. Kino is a 15-year-old traveler. Although they appear apathetic at first, they are a caring and understanding person. They travel through different countries to experience their customs and understand their histories, but never stay longer than three days. They are afraid of settling down, because it would cause them to no longer be a traveler. Kino is an excellent marksman with amazing speed, agility, and accuracy. They initially traveled with a revolver persuader "Canon" which takes six .44 caliber bullets that they used solely for the execution or maiming of other humans or hunting. They were later gifted with a semi-auto persuader, "Woodsman" which replaced their revolver's purpose of hunting. They use "Woodsman" if they are hunting down other humans without an intent to harm or kill. Kino is rarely known to use a sniper persuader "Flute," but when they do, it is used for hunting and long-distance combat. They make use of many knives hidden in various locations in their clothing for cooking, distraction, and close-combat. They also carry a ballistic knife that doubles as a triple-barrelled gun complete with a laser sight as a final deception tactic when they are cornered. They use all of their weapons with extreme proficiency, if not flawlessly. While adept at being a survivalist, they have a knack to disappear with impeccable timing to prevent physical and/or emotional harm. They often monologue many times to Hermes that they are no "God" and will only take in their environment and the many countries that they visits as they are. Although they is persuaded many times to sway events into the favour of many people during their travels, they are never tempted to follow up proving their unwavering discipline to their principle; "The world is not beautiful; and that, in a way, lends it a sort of beauty." Their honesty is brutal, and their self-loyalty trumps all of their actions. However, they are known to assist others out of their own inconvenience simply because Kino wants to. Kino has a sweet tooth; it is used as comic relief against a bleak backdrop of survival and hardships of traveling. Another source of comic relief is their preference for tidiness; they are vexed whenever they cannot maintain a well maintained physical figure/appearance. In Gakuen Kino, Kino is a high school magical girl who defeats evil which appear in their world, known as Mysterious Bishoujo Gun Fighter Rider Kino. Hermes

Utama

Gender: Male Hermes is a talking motorrad who travels with Kino to various countries and lands. Hermes was found broken in an alley by the original Kino during his stay in the Land of Adults. The original Kino and the then eleven-year-old child fixed him, although at the time Hermes could not talk to them. The original Kino decided to give him the name Hermes, after their previous motorrad. Hermes is often pessimistically realist, unbiased, and usually comes across as the comic relief character. He has a tendency to complain, which sometimes annoys Kino. Despite this, he is a very reliable companion both mentally and physically, as he is the only person who Kino can speak with about their innermost thoughts. He is naive and innocent in many ways, often believing things that are only meant as a joke. He also has a habit of trying to state famous quotes, but usually forgets or changes them, prompting Kino to correct him. Although Hermes can be interpreted as a caring companion towards Kino, Hermes however does not care whoever his rider is. His sole purpose is to provide speed while a rider provides him with a direction and balance. If Kino were to be killed, he would have to wait for an extended period of time before another traveler utilizes him as a mode of transportation. Kino is well aware of Hermes's purpose as a motorrad and fiercely protects him from anybody attempting to steal or damage him, as well as themself in order for Hermes to continue having a rider. Hermes is also extremely intelligent in literal data. He can assess physical situations to an extremely complex degree but is annoyingly vague in expressing it. In the anime, he uses his knowledge to assess a mythical flying machine that was indeed able to fly provided with sufficient thrust. In Gakuen Kino, Hermes is a cell phone strap. He is described as two canvas strips connected by a brass buckle with a Brough Superior SS100 engraved upon it. His personality has not changed. (Source: Kino's Journey Wiki, edited)
