The main character with high intellect and a photographic memory. He wants to be an astronomer who works at NASA due to a promise he made with his childhood friend Kuroneko. After meeting the magic users, he decides to provide shelter to them at an abandoned observatory despite knowing that their pursuers have orders to kill whoever comes in contact with them, usually coming with plans to have their location concealed while looking for ways to provide the medicine they need to keep living while helping them to live their lives as normal as possible.

Being a magician Kuroha has the power to destroy any inanimate object, as well as transferring power when in direct contact with organic beings. Her power is so strong that while being in the lab, she had to undergo multiple extensive tests. As a result, Kuroha has almost completely forgotten her childhood memories, with only a few bits of emotion lingering. Although usually gentle and caring, she can be short-tempered when embarrassed. She easily gets jealous when Murakami is "too close" to other girls (especially when Kazumi is seducing Murakami) and she would use her magic to destroy things around unconsciously. She is very puzzled by this reaction.

Kana is a magician who escaped the laboratory with Kuroha and is her roommate. Kana is paralyzed and cannot talk without her keyboard and has good intentions though she can be quite mouthy and rude. She has the ability to predict how and when people are going to die.

Kazumi is a half-Austrian magician who speaks Japanese with a Kansai accent. Her power is hacking computer systems. She, also has feelings for Ryouta that she would try to seduce him and even go naked in front of him.

Kotori has the ability to switch with other people and things as well as allowing others to come with her when she uses her powers. However she can only use her powers once which then causes her to hang up. Despite this handicap, her ability has often come into place in vital situations. She is not familiar with other magicians when still lived in the lab. Kotori is a clumsy but soft-hearted girl. She gets nervous easily, and when that happens, she will start to stutter. She likes all kinds of desserts and does eat a lot of food.

Nanami is an unique AA+ rank magic user and a minor antagonist. She is soft-spoken, and has a taste in sugar. Her research number is 5210. Her ability is scanning, modifying and erasing people's memories up to a certain point if they look directly at her eyes.

Mako's power capability is very large, with 8 different abilities. Her strongest power is to create anti-matter which is capable of destroying a whole wide-range area. She can kill anyone in her sight within just seconds by dismembering them, and also has ability to teleport, and regenerate quickly. Ichijiku is the director at the research institute. His job is the supervision of "witches" and the management of "Sorcerian." He deploys people to capture and retake witches A-rank and above when they escape. He is cold and mercilessness demeanor meant that his regard for human life is meaningless. He treats every witches in a very cruel manner which for him they are merely his tools, he also has no hesitation of deposing any witch whom he sees unworthy to live. It was later on reveled that his interest to join the clandestine research institute was to find a way to revive his long dead sister Rena, where he conducts his own experiment behind his superiors back where he feeds some of his sister's brain into Kotori's grane hoping that his sister's memories would live inside Kotori but with no success, however it did accelerated the grane inside Kotori to hatch sooner than he expected.

It was later on pointed that he and Chisato attended the same university and were even classmates.
