Yumiko Kobayashi

Souji Okita

Utama

Male

Name; Souji Okita Childhood name: Soujiro (A lot of the time mistaken by his feminine looks) Age: Around 25 (Mid 20's) Height: 5' 8'' Weight: 140 lbs. Eyes: Violet-blue Hair: Purplish-black Affiliation: Shinsengumi Status: 1st Unit captain Family: Not mentioned Friends: His fellow comrades of the Shinsengumi and his pet pig, Saizo Rivals: Basically just his enemies and Ryoma Sakamoto Occupation: Samurai This is the sweet, kind, caring and somewhat feminine legendary swordsman. He likes to irritate Hijikata and the rest of the Shinsengumi by acting like a girl. He loves children and has a sweet tooth, and he adores Kyoto candies. One of the youngest members of the Shinsengumi, he mastered all the sword techniques of the Tennen-rishin ryu (the style of kenjutsu used by the Shinsengumi) in his teens and went on to become a teacher in his twenties. He is considered to be one of the best swordsmen of pre-Meiji Japan. Okita's childhood name is Soujiro, and you'll often hear children in the series calling him by that name. The reason he gives for allowing them to call him by such a nostalgic name is that if he uses the name 'Okita Souji', no one will play with him...Yes, he is in his early twenties, but he still plays with children all the same. He is short for a guy, and seems to like walking along with his hair flowing freely behind him when he is off-duty. Hijikata, Okita's mentor, made Okita choose whether or not he would take up the katana at the age of nine. In episode 7, Okita accuses Hijikata of having made a mistake with him, by allowing him to hold a katana at an age where he was not yet ready to choose. Although he is a fantastic swordsman, he has two weak points. He can't adjust his strength to accomodate the people around him, and as a result, no one wants to practise with him (since they always end up with injuries). Even with a bougu (armour) and shinai (bamboo sword) Okita can cause serious injuries. He also has a disease called Tuberculosis which surfaces from time to time.

Mitsuki Saiga

Toshizo Hijikata

Utama

Hair Colour: Black Eye Colour: Dark Brown Height: Medium Position in Shinsengumi: Fukuchou (second-in command) Nicknames: Oni no Fukuchou (Demon-like Fukuchou) Fighting Style: Tennen Risshin Style Hijikata Toshizo, the Shinsengumi's Demon. He is stern, unforgiving and cruel on the surface, but once you scratch his surface, you'll find that there's much, much more to this serious-looking man than meets the eye. He is the founding member of the Shinsengumi that wrote the Internal Regulations and developed the fighting style that Shinsengumi came to be known for, the Tennen-Rishin Ryu. In the series, he seems to be the one in control of the entire Shinsengumi, though the decisions of the Shinsengumi are made by a council of three : Kondou (Kyoukuchou), Hijikata (Fukuchou) and Yamanami (Fukuchou). The mentor of Okita Souji, the tensai swordsman, he was no pushover in swordfighting. In episode one, you'll get a taste of just how good Hijikata is. In the later episodes, Hijikata is seen to worry about Okita's illness as well as about Tetsunosuke. He refuses to let Tetsu hold a sword, apparently for fear that Tetsu will walk down the same bloody path as Okita. He has a deep sense of commitment to the Shinsengumi, and this is the most probable reason why he puts on a stern, unforgiving face. In Episode 7, he reprimanded Kondou for allowing the Shinsengumi to play like a 'gang of buddies' and told him to stop doing things to soften the Shinsengumi's edge. He tolerates no imperfection, but is not unreasonable. As such, he has the respect of all 40 members of the Shinsengumi.

Jouji Nakata

Susumu Yamazaki

Utama

Hair Color: Black Eye Color: Dark Brown Height: Medium Family: Yamazaki Ayumu (sister) Department in Shinsengumi: Intelligence Position in Shinsengumi: Supervisor and Shinobi Quotable Quotes: 'You're a halfwit' 'These escape wounds are dishonourable' Yamazaki Susumu is held in high regard by the high-ranking members of the Shinsengumi, especially Hijikata. Obviously as you can figure out, Susumu is a shinobi and the type that gathers information both night and day. Like a typical ninja, he leaps from roof to roof silently, but during the day he dons kimonos and powders his face, transforming himself into a beautiful lady (known as 'Osei') so as to collect info for the Shinsengumi. Like most shinobis Susumu has a cold, indifferent attitude to those around him, particualry his peers and people he considers weak (such as Tetsu). Susumu is rarely seen losing his temper but with Tetsu he was the first to do that.

Takahiro Sakurai

Tatsunosuke Ichimura

Utama

Male

Tetsu's over protective, easily worried and rather high-strung older brother/guardian (also an actual member of the Shinsengumi). He is polite, soft spoken, and down to earth. After the death of their parents, he had to take care of himself and his brother. He, in accordance with his more pacifist outlook, works only as a bookkeeper for the Shinsengumi. He has tried to put all thoughts of revenge for his parents' deaths out of his mind, but convincing his younger brother to do the same is a little more difficult. Tatsu has a habit of apologizing for his little brother.

Yuuji Ueda

Sanosuke Harada

Pendukung

Male · Umur 25

Name: Sanosuke Harada Height: 6' 4'' (Maybe higher) Weight: 215 lbs. (Don't worry, its all muscle) Eyes: Brown Hair: Dark, spiky brown Affiliation: Shinsengumi Position: 10th Unit captain Status: Best spear fighter in the Shinsengumi and one of the three comedians Family: Not mentioned Friends: Shinpachi Nagakura, Heisuke Todo Rivals: Bullies, Choshu The number one spear user in the Shinsengumi, Harada Sanosuke is not one to be estimated. Though his skills with the katana leave much to be desired, he is practically invincible with a spear and is a master of the Taneda Houzouin Ryu spear technique. He is a fun-loving guy that loves to eat (especially at the expense of others) and enjoys poking fun at the chibi. He, Toudou Heisuke and Nagakura Shinpachi make up the Comedian Three (if you've watched the series, you'd definitely see why...). Despite his crude, rough exterior, Sano has a kind heart. He hates seeing people being bullied, and will go out of his way to aid those in need (although he is also the one who stomped all over Tetsu in the first episode). Another of the first members of the Shinsengumi, he was around before the Shinsengumi moved to the capital. A little erratic, he is not someone Hijikata trusts to send on errands (neither is Shinpachi, for that matter)... He will do almost anything for food, especially food cooked by Ayumu. For example, in Episode 6, Sano was actually trailing behind in the marathon. But when he thought about the super-size meal cooked by Ayumu (the prize) his speed increased drastically to the point whereby he caught up with Yamanami and Shinpachi, who were in the lead. Ah, the power of love (of food)...

Kenji Nomura

Shinpachi Nagakura

Pendukung

The second unit captain of the Shinsengumi. He introduces himself to Tetsu as "Sanosuke’s keeper." Like Tetsu, he is often underestimated by his height (and young appearance — he looks like a child, but is actually in his 20s). In fact, he is extremely skilled with his sword and is a swordsman of Okita Soji's level. He is also quite the joker, especially in conjunction with Sanosuke and Heisuke.

Kappei Yamaguchi

Isami Kondo

Pendukung

Male

Though he's the Kyoukuchou, he plays a relatively minor role in the series and is often seen to be overruled by Hijikata. He's much more tolerant of the errant Tetsunosuke as well as Souji's childish antics. He is, however, more willing to take risks than Hijikata.

Takaya Hashi

Suzu Kitamura

Pendukung

Umur 15

Eye Colour: Reddish-brown Hair Colour: Silver Height: Medium Affiliation: Choshuu Position in Choshuu: Yoshida's disciple and page Seiyuu: Imai Yuka Suzu lost his older brother to the Shinsengumi when he was a little younger, and hence hates the Shinsengumi. Yoshida convinces him to avenge his brother by becoming his disciple and killing the Miburo. Suzu sincerely believes that the evil Yoshida is kind at heart although he puts on a cruel, unforgiving face (somewhat like Hijikata). What he fails to see is that Yoshida enjoys killing, and is not at all kind at heart. He is extremely loyal to his sensei and will do anything to please him (within reason). His obligation seems to lie with Yoshida and not Choshuu, the opposing group he is affiliated with.

Yuka Imai

Saya

Pendukung

Female

The quietest and sweetest of all the PMK characters, Saya is definitely lovable. Although Saya is mute, she is able to laugh, softly. She, like Tetsu, lost her parents when she was younger, but unlike Tetsu, did not have any siblings to take care of her. As a result, she lives and works at Shimabara as an attendant girl, under the wings of Akesato. Saya cannot speak, but can read and write. She's also very pretty.

Mikako Takahashi

Toshimaru Yoshida

Pendukung

Male

Toshimaru Yoshida is a leading member of the extremist faction of the Chōshū rebels, the Sonno-joi ("Revere the Emperor, Expel the Barbarians") movement. Yoshida went as far to defy the representative of the Chōshū clan, Katsura Kogoro, who stressed restraint among the Loyalists. Sworn enemy of the Shinsengumi. Teacher of Suzu, who admires him. A dark and cruel bastard.

Junichi Suwabe

Heisuke Todou

Pendukung

Male

Heisuke is an essential part of the Manzai Three. He has the most warped ideas about Hijikata's 'new page', going as far as to say that Hijikata-san chose him because he was good in bed sweatdrop.

Kousuke Toriumi

Hajime Saitou

Pendukung

Male

Saitou Hajime is one of the best swordsmen in the Shinsengumi, and the Leader of the Third Unit. He has the uncanny ability to feel the thoughts of the dead, and even communicate with them.

Takashi Matsuyama

Ayumu Yamazaki

Pendukung

Female

Ayumu is the "den mother" of the Shinsengumi, Ayumu is the cook and housekeeper at the Shinsengumi compound. A pretty woman with a motherly nature, Ayumu is fully cognizant of what the people around her do for a living, and acts as a sort of big-sister figure to Tetsu. She is Susumu's older sister, and, like him, a shinobi.

Yuuko Nagashima

Akesato

Pendukung

Female

Akesato is a beautiful geisha working in Shimabara, who loves Yamanami.

Michiko Neya

Ryoma Sakamoto

Pendukung

A Tosa ronin and master of the Hokushin Itto Ryu (Hokushin Single Sword Style). Acclaimed critic of the shogunate (and the Shinsengumi), but no member of the rebels. Speaks strangely, his weapon is a Smith & Wesson revolver. Was a friend of Tetsu's father.

Masashi Ebara

Saizo

Pendukung

Saizo is Souji's pet piglet. Saizo is temperamental at times (mostly towards Tetsunosuke) and is often seen chasing and "attacking" Tetsu. However, Saizo adores Souji and seems to be nicer to those with a gentle nature (when compared to Tetsu) such as Yamanami, Ayumu, and Hotaru (the Choshu maiden who had a crush on Souji).

Mikako Takahashi

Keisuke Yamanami

Pendukung

Keisuke Yamanami is one of the two vice-commanders for the Shinsengumi (the other vice-commander is Hijikata). He is a master of the Hokushin Itto Ryu swordsmanship style. Yamanami is often called "Sannan" (an alternate reading of the Kanji characters in his name) by both Hijikata and Kondo. Yamanami is well liked and respected by the Shinsengumi members, but is constantly in opposition to Hijikata and his style of leadership. In contrast to Hijikata, Yamanami tends to be more compassionate and thoughtful. Yamanami is consistently seen carrying an abacus with him. He says that he finds the abacus to be soothing, especially when he finds himself in a boiling rage. Yamanami likes children and especially has a soft heart for Tetsunosuke (Tetsu). Of course, Tetsu returns the friendship and has no problems publicly proclaiming that he would prefer to be his or Kondo's page, rather than Hijikata's page. Just like Hijikata, Yamanami is strongly opposed to Tetsu handling swords. Yamanami's feelings about this may have stemmed from how he was affected by his role in the assassination of the former Shinsengumi Commander, Serizawa Kamo. Ever since that incident, Yamanami seemed to be hesitant to draw his own sword and admitted to Tatsunosuke (Tetsu's brother) that "ever since the former commander passed on, bloodshed lost its appeal". Yamanami is in love with Akesato, a Shimabara courtesan. He maintains his relationship with her by visiting her at Shimabara as her customer. According to Todo Heisuke, Akesato waits exclusively on Yamanami.

Norihiro Inoue

Hana

Pendukung

Hana (ハナ Hana?), like Saya, is one of the 'girls-in-training' under Akesato. She is the polar opposite of Saya, being very loud, blunt, upbeat and caring in her own strange way. She dislikes katanas. Her father was an umbrella maker and spoke loudly about honor. When her mother was sick, he did not sell his swords for a doctor. What happened to them is unknown but it is assumed that the mother died of the illness. She wants Tetsu to make her his new mother out of compassion. She has a big crush on Sanosuke after he saved her from thugs at a festival. Source : PeaceMaker.fandom.wikia
