Possessing genius-level driving skills, he once overwhelmingly defeated "Librad"—Arcadia's original Gyrozetter—while piloting a standard A.I. car. Although usually cool-headed and reticent, he has an intensely competitive nature and despises cowardice above all else. His distinctive (and somewhat "chuunibyou"-esque) tone and attitude give the impression of someone arrogant who keeps others at a distance. However, he also displays a flexible side; for instance, he acknowledged Kakeru's talent during their race, subtly helped Michinori when the latter wanted to join the team, and conscientiously accepted Valentine's chocolates—delivered via Gyrozetter—from an enemy who harbored feelings for him. He also possesses quick wits. His catchphrase—"No one is permitted to drive ahead of me!"—is one he adopted in imitation of a racer he respects. His parents passed away when he was young, and he was raised under the care of Hisaishi. While he is an acquaintance of Nanako, he apparently was unaware of Kakeru's existence.
